Mysterious, undiscovered Tuva, keeping prints of ancient civilizations and savagery of nature, attracts journey-lovers. Unusually beautiful nature, diversity of landscapes, a large number of archeological monuments of different epochs – all this may attract tourists. Even though the region is not fully developed for mass tourism, those who love slightly extreme rest have already chosen many places of the republic.

If you want to feel yourself a part of the nature, to feel personal freedom, if you are not afraid of eventual difficulties, then you, for sure, will like a journey through one of the nicest places of Russia with untouched nature and live history – the Republic of Tuva.

By car

For those who like comfortable journeys, and for those who want to see the most possible in a short period of time, a journey by car is the most suitable way to do it.

The main automotive road of the Republic of Tuva is the Usinskiy trakt, which connects Minusinsk and Erzin. This road is the only federal road in Tuva and it is kept in a good condition. While traveling on the Usinskiy trakt, you will certainly enjoy the wonderful scenes of Sayana – mountain country of South Siberia. On the road you will discover a splendid view on the deep canyon, where is situated the famous Turano-Uiykskaiya hallow, known by its barrows of Scythian period.

You may also want to choose for your journey the automotive road Kyzyl-Ak-Dovurak or the road Saryg-Sepa-Todju, which is planned to be opened in the nearest future.

By horse

The horse tourism is not only one of the most popular types of active rest but also a pleasant way of keeping in shape. First of all, this is an irreplaceable way to get to many unusually nice places, where it is not possible to get by car.

There are very favorable conditions for horse tourism. The Tuvinians themselves used to do stock-breeding and had nomadic way of life, moving on horses from one settlement to another. Natural conditions of the republic ideally fit for horse riding, and the variety of landscapes will make it unforgettable.

Special tourist routes are developed as for beginners, as for those who have skills in horse riding. And, of course, in any aal (settlement of nomadic Tuvinians) you can borrow a horse, and you will be able to enjoy this walk or even feel yourself a real shepherd.

Walking

A walk will help you to forget all problems of city life and to feel the unity with the wonderful nature of Tuva. Climbing onto the highest peak of the country Big Mongun-Taigu, 3 km 976 m high, is waiting for you. You will always remember a walk on the Ubsungursk hallow: a unique place, where you can see sand deserts and high grass prairies, and dry swampy tundra on the peaks of mountain ranges, and ever the snow of the Turgen-Ula mountain. The walks through Baj-Tajginsk and Mogun- Tajginsk kojuuns (districts) will offer you familiarization with way of life of the local population and their culture.

By river

Breathtaking air, crystal clear water, the environment of savagery of the nature of Siberian taiga; unforgettable adventures and self check for extreme situations – you will get all this once you go on the water journey on Tuva.

The republic is rich by suitable for float by river. The most popular routs for rafting are:

• on the Bij-Hem from the river-head to the Yenisey waterfall
• on the Bij-Hem from Tor-Hem, on the river Ulug-Oo
• on the rivers Kyzl-Heg and Balykteg-Hem and further on the Kaha-Hem to Kyzyl
• on river the Ham-Syra from Chazylar to settlement of Yzyrban
